DUMAGUETE CITY, Dec. 15 -- First Gen-Energy Development Corporation has installed a 10-megawatt battery energy storage system at its geothermal power plant in Valencia, Negros Oriental, to provide backup power during peak demand.
Erwin Magallanes, head of the company's Corporate Relations Division, said Monday the facility is complete and awaiting operational clearance from the Energy Regulatory Commission.
"It is just a series of batteries, like a huge power bank, that can augment the power supply, especially during peak hours when the load demand is higher," Magallanes said.
