ILOILO CITY, Dec. 1 -- The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) will deploy 1,500 personnel to help secure delegates for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Senior Officials' Meeting (ASEAN SEOM) Retreat on Dec. 10 - 13 in Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.
In a media briefing on Monday, PRO-6 director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan said they will provide security to around 200 delegates and even tourists visiting the island.
"Good to note that Boracay Island is isolated. It is easy to secure in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard and the Maritime (Police). They will be in charge of the shoreline," he said.
He added they have not isolated any area in Boracay, and the island will remain open to guests and visitors....
