Manila, April 2 -- Some 1,484 police personnel have been deployed in Central Luzon to ensure safe travel for motorists and commuters during the Lenten season and the summer months, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 said on Wednesday.

In a statement, PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the deployment of cops is in line with PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil's directive to intensify efforts to ensure peace and order during the vacation season.

Fajardo said these personnel are complemented by the establishment of 602 police assistance desks and these strategic deployments aim to deter criminal activities and provide immediate public safety assistance.
