Manila, March 23 -- Government troops clashed with an undetermined number of communist insurgents in Barangay Tambobong, Baguio District here on Friday. The firefight came a day after President Rodrigo Duterte terminated the peace negotiations between the government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP). Lt. Col Oscar Partuza, commander of the Army's 3rd Infantry Battalion, said the encounter took place while the troops were validating information that NPA members were in the area.
