Manila, Oct. 14 -- The head of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reminds the public to stay calm but ready amid the recent strong earthquakes that hit various parts of the country.
"The recent earthquakes are a reminder that there should be a plan and know safe places," Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol told the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday.
Bacolcol noted that earthquakes are a normal occurrence because the Philippines has 180 active faults and six active trenches.
He added that it was just a coincidence that strong and successive earthquakes happened, but noted that these quakes had different generators.
