Manila, Dec. 24 -- Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Wednesday commended all police commanders and personnel for the successful implementation of the security plan for the traditional "Simbang Gabi" across the country.

In a statement, Nartatez said no significant incident that threatened public safety or disrupted the nine-day religious tradition was recorded during their Simbang Gabi monitoring from Dec. 16.

"Your presence on the ground is a comforting assurance to our kababayan that they will be safe as they intend to fulfill their commitment to complete the masses, be with their family and friends for this important and traditional religious activity," Nartatez said.
