Manila, April 24 -- A ranking official of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) on Wednesday dared the National Union of Peoples' Lawyers (NUPL) and human rights group Karapatan to seek justice for the families of two people who were shot dead by suspected Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) terrorists in Butuan City on April 18 and 23.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Deputy Chief-of-Staff for Civil-Military Operations, Major Gen. Antonio Parlade, Jr., said now is the proper time for these progressive groups to prove themselves as "defenders of human rights and of poor victims of injustice."
