Manila, Jan. 9 -- The traditional "pahalik" (kissing) of the image of the Jesus Nazareno will continue at the Quirino Grandstand until Jan. 10.
The "pahalik" has been extended until Saturday at 10 a.m. to accommodate more devotees to venerate and touch the iconic Jesus Christ image.
"Our Rector, Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, saw the continued influx of devotees, who wanted to get close to and touch the Jesus Nazareno," a statement from the Quiapo Church sent to reporters read.
"And being a Friday, surely the number of devotees will still increase. Thus, our Rector decided to extend the pahalik."
During the "pahalik", devotees are allowed to venerate the image, allowing them to kiss and touch it.
