India, Sept. 22 -- Super Typhoon Nando (international name Ragasa) is expected to pass very close to or make landfall over Calayan Island between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 2 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the cyclone was last spotted over the coastal waters of Babuyan Island, Calayan, Cagayan at 1 p.m., carrying maximum sustained winds of 215 km. per hour (kph) near the center and gusts reaching 295 kph.

Signal No. 5 remains hoisted over the Babuyan Islands, where life-threatening conditions and typhoon-force winds persist.
