MANILA, July 13 -- Rains are expected over several parts of the country as the southwest monsoon or "habagat" continues to affect the Philippines, the state weather bureau said Sunday.
In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tropical Storm Nari (international name), located 2,165 kilometers east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has no direct effect on the country.
The storm packs maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 80 km/h. It is moving east northeastward at 15 km/h and is not expected to enter PAR, PAGASA said.
