Manila, July 23 -- Many areas, especially in Luzon and the western section of the Visayas and Mindanao, will continue to experience heavy rains and strong winds due to the prevailing southwest monsoon as well as Tropical Storm Emong, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.

"Heavy rains would mostly affect the western section of Luzon, parts of Southern Luzon, and some parts of Western Visayas and Western Mindanao," Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather services chief Chris Perez said in a Palace briefing.

For the next 24 hours, Perez said parts of Bicol Region and Palawan could also experience heavy rainfall.

"Heavy rains could result in floods and landslides," Perez warned.
