MANILA, Oct. 21 -- Still unidentified persons or groups are using "disinformation" to drive a wedge between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and its retired personnel, a ranking official said Tuesday.

In a press briefing in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Philippine Navy (PN) spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea (WPS) Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad said the use of disinformation is part of efforts to discredit the military and erode the country's "social cohesion."

"Recently, there was an attempt to agitate some of our MUP (military uniformed personnel) retirees, organize them, and eventually mobilize them," he said.
