Mumbai, April 8 -- The Bombay High Court on Tuesday (April 8, 2025) issued notice to Mumbai Police and Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel while hearing the petition of stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra. Kunal Kamra has challenged the FIR in which he has been accused of making alleged objectionable remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Last month, Khar police registered an FIR against Kunal Kamra on the complaint of Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel. The FIR was registered under sections 353(1)(b) and 356(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Kunal, in one of his comedy shows, took a dig at Eknath Shinde and mocked his rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray in 2022.
