New Zealand has come out in support of some of the key negotiating positions of Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS) on a new global high seas treaty currently negotiated in New York.

Speaking to PACNEWS on the margins of the negotiations at the UN headquarters, Alice Revell, the head of the New Zealand delegation said her team has been working closely with PSIDS on a number of issues they support and agree with.

"In particular the importance of special requirements of small island developing states and the role of traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples and local communities are important for New Zealand and we'd like to reflect that in the treaty. And...
