Fiji, Sept. 5 -- Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele has told Pacific journalists they are central to shaping regional unity and making Forum decisions meaningful for ordinary people.

Opening the Regional Media Workshop in Honiara Friday, ahead of the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders' Meeting, Manele said: "It is my honour to welcome our Pacific media to Honiara for this Regional Media Workshop. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) and the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA) for their partnership in making this workshop possible. Your commitment to supporting media across the Pacific strengthens our regionalism and ensures that the voices of our people are heard."
