Next Wednesday the people of Solomon Islands who are eligible to vote will be going to the polls to elect our next representatives in Parliament. Who ever gets elected carries with them a heavy responsibility to their children, family, tribe, community, constituency, province and the nation. It is quite an onerous and burdensome load that they have to bear because not only are the economic, social and political challenges of the country and region weighed on their shoulders but the material expectations of the electorate lie heavily on their pockets and the discretionary funds that they hold the keys to.
