Fiji, Dec. 1 -- Fiji's Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says Fijians need to follow advisories and not participate in mass gatherings especially in the Central division.

Dr Waqainabete says measles can spread very easily among large groups of people if they are not immune, who can then take the disease back into their communities.

"We had strongly advised against mass gatherings and that remains because we don't want to put people at risk. If somebody has measles and there is a mass gathering, hundreds of people come from all over Fiji, they will take measles back to where ever they come from. We have to remember what happened in our past in 1875."
