Fiji has called on the world to follow its lead in committing itself to 100 per cent sustainable management of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) by 2030, with at least 30 per cent to be declared protected areas.

Speaking at the high-level panel on sustainable oceans economy, Bainimarama said a healthy and functioning ocean is the single most important factor influencing climate.

He said sustainable oceans is one of Fiji's top priorities.
