Deputy speaker acknowledges women and five Pacific nations for influencing peace in Bougainville

Women have been the greatest influencers of the peace process in Bougainville for the last 30 years - and Deputy Speaker, Francesca Semoso acknowledged their immense contribution as influencing events that led to the referendum for independence.
Leading women from her village of Malasang to vote on Monday, an emotional Semoso paid tribute to her mother, 75 year old Carmela Semoso for raising her to be a strong woman to fight for justice and the welfare of the women and people of Bougainville.
