Papua New Guinea, Sept. 30 -- The Autonomous Region of Bougainville is now ready to conduct the referendum where people will vote to decide the region's future.
This is from the returning officer of the Bougainville Referendum John Sisiesi, when accepting the referendum writ from chief referendum officer (CRO) Mauricio Claudio in Arawa.
"It is indeed a great honour and great accomplishment of both the PNG national Government and the ABG to reach this step, the receipt of the writ to conduct the long-awaited referendum for Bougainville," Sissiesi said.
"It might look like a small step for us preparing the referendum but it is a giant step for the people of Bougainville.
