Bhubaneswar, Nov. 24 -- The Kendrapara Police have registered a criminal case after a youth allegedly fired a blank round at the Garapur village area of Kendrapara on Sunday night during an altercation with a local schoolteacher's family over a monetary dispute.

According to a complaint filed at the Garapur police station, a local youth identified as Sibu allegedly confronted Asim Rautray around 8 pm and demanded money. The accused allegedly also insisted that he should be allowed to drink on the victim's premises.

"The dispute stems from his demand to allow him a space on our plot for drinking activities," said Asim.
