BHUBANESWAR, Jan. 16 -- Even as the minimum temperature across all the districts has risen, normal life was badly affected due to dense fog cover over Bhubaneswar and several other parts of Odisha. Vehicular communication was severely hit with visibility dropping to 10-20 metres at many areas.

The situation was such in the pilgrim city Puri that devotees failed to get a glimpse of Nilachakra atop Jagannath Temple. In Chilika, a boat carrying at least 30 passengers from Satpada to Janhikuda remained stranded for hours due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. The boat however safely reached the coast after the fog subsided to some extent.
