Bhubaneswar, Feb. 16 -- Allegations of caste-based discrimination have surfaced from Dumerchuan village under Turekela block in Odisha's Bolangir district, where residents of a Dalit hamlet claim that their water supply and basic amenities have been deliberately disrupted.
According to the residents, the piped water supply to the locality was allegedly stopped a few days ago. They further alleged that street lights in the hamlet were switched off, leaving the area in darkness and causing hardship to families living there.
Men and women from Dalit families have accused certain villagers of discriminating against them based on caste. They claim that despite repeated complaints to the local administration, no action has been taken so far....
