Bhubaneswar, Oct. 14 -- In a decisive move to enhance security at the 12th-century Jagannath Temple in the Puri pilgrimage town, the Srimandir Sub-Committee (Security) announced a complete ban on the use of mobile phones within the temple premises on Tuesday.

The restriction applies to everyone, including the temple police personnel and servitors.

This announcement was made by the sub-committee chairman, Girish Chandra Murmu, following a detailed security review meeting. Discussions focused on both internal and external safety of the world-famous Vaishnavite shrine, which attracts millions of devotees each year.
