Bhubaneswar, June 8 -- The Director of Odisha Vigilance Directorate, Debasis Panigrahi was airlifted to Kolkata today for better treatment.

Panigrahi was under ventilator support at Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack after being infected with Covid-19. Doctors in the hospital advised his family for ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) treatment after his condition didn't show any signs of improvement due to widespread infections and inflammations in the lungs.

A 'green corridor' was created from Ashwini Hospital to Biju Patnaik International Airport in the State Capital on Tuesday to shift the patient with the help of an ambulance. He was then carried in air ambulance to Kolkata.
