Bhubaneswar, Oct. 17 -- Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal has sought the Odisha government's active support to fast-track clearances and execution for the company's proposed USD 20-billion or Rs 2.27 lakh crore aluminium project, which ranks as one of India's largest industrial investments to date.

According to The New Indian Express, in a letter addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Agarwal said the company was committed to developing a 30 lakh tonnes per annum (MTPA) aluminium ecosystem in the state.

The proposal includes a 3 MTPA smelter at Dhenkanal with an investment of Rs 1.27 lakh crore and a 6 MTPA alumina refinery at Rayagada with Rs 1 lakh crore. Reports added that the company has already secured the Sijimali bauxite block thro...
