Bhubaneswar, Sept. 4 -- Salepur: Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday sought transit remand of a person who was arrested from Kushambi village under Salepur police limits in Odisha's Cuttack district on sedition charges.

The accused, identified as Sayyed Hassan Ahmed, is facing sedition charges for allegedly posting threatening content on social media against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Producing the accused before the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court today, the UP police submitted a petition seeking the transit remand of the accused for further interrogation.
