In a narrow escape at sea, a fishing trawler sank while returning from a Hilsa fishing trip, but all 16 fishermen onboard were safely rescued. The incident occurred in the deep sea on Sunday, after the trawler had set out from Namkhana ferry ghat in West Bengal on Friday in search of Hilsa fish.
According to the fishermen's association, the vessel developed leaks during its return journey on Sunday, allowing seawater to enter. Due to persistent rainfall over recent days, the sea had turned rough, contributing to the sinking. This period, being the peak season for Hilsa fishing, sees heightened activity in the area.
