Bhubaneswar, July 25 -- The acute shortage of manpower, including Inspector In-Charges (IICs) at several police stations in Balasore district has emerged as a major concern for the cops struggling to check the increasing crime rate in the district.

According to sources, the IIC post at the lone Adarsh Police Station in the district is lying vacant since last one month after the then in-charge was transferred following a promotion. While there should be a total of around 52 staff including IIC, SIs, ASIs and constables, the police station is operating with just 21 staff.

The situation is no different at the Town Police Station. The IIC post is lying vacant in the PS for the last one month.
