New Delhi, June 27 -- Though the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) continue with their process to fill the vacant posts in the Central Armed Police Forces, over 84,000 posts out of the sanctioned strength of 9,99,795 are still lying vacant and the government is taking 'expeditious' steps to fill them, the Home Ministry said in Lok Sabha.

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) comprise the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles (AR) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
