Bhubaneswar, April 7 -- A thirty four-year-old SOG Havildar died following a hand grenade explosion reportedly during a training exercise at the Chandaka training centre on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, the deceased has been identified as Prakash Sahoo, a resident of Katapali village in Bargarh district.
Sources said that at the Chandaka Centre, SOG (Special Operations Group) cadets are trained in anti-extremist and anti-insurgency operations. Lobbing grenade was one of the training exercises that the cadets were undertaking when the mishap occurred. Prakash, a trainer, sustained multiple injuries after a grenade exploded mid-air during training at around 3 PM on Tuesday. Later, Prakash succumbed to injuries.
