In a major breakthrough, Bhubaneswar Cyber Police arrested a man from Uttar Pradesh for his alleged involvement in a Rs 98 lakh cyber fraud executed via a fake investment scheme on WhatsApp. The arrested man was forwarded to court in Odisha on Friday.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Sadar, was apprehended from Bijnor district.
The case was registered on July 4 at the Bhubaneswar Cyber Police Station after a complaint was filed by the victim, who had been lured by promises of high returns through a fraudulent investment opportunity shared on WhatsApp.
