Bhubaneswar, Feb. 10 -- The hide-and-seek game lasting over three and a half months finally ended on Tuesday with Odisha Vigilance arresting Subrat Behera, a clerk of Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). He had been absconding in connection with a major financial misappropriation case.
According to sources, Subrat had gone missing after a case was registered against him for alleged financial irregularities while he was serving as an accountant at the hospital. He is accused of manipulating records to unlawfully increase his salary and misappropriating close to Rs 2.5 crore of government funds.
The alleged embezzlement came to light following an internal audit, after which the hospital authorities had lodged a formal complaint. So...
