The Odisha Cabinet has approved Rs 1,000 crore to build 500 km of disaster-resilient roads in flood and cyclone-prone regions. Sanctioned under the 'Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana', the five-year project (2025-2030) aims to ensure uninterrupted connectivity during emergencies.

A press release from the Government of Odisha stated that key planned features of the road include elevated embankments above flood levels, reinforced protection walls, upgraded drainage systems, and high-level bridges replacing submersible ones.
