Tension erupted in Rourkela after gunfire broke out during a robbery attempt at a roadside dhaba near the Bisra police station area. A group of six to seven armed miscreants reportedly attacked the dhaba, with the motive to loot money while brandishing firearms and knives.
According to sources, the robbers allegedly opened fire at the dhaba owner, injuring him in the leg.
As the assailants tried to flee the scene, police reached the spot, ensuing a gunfight. The criminals allegedly fired at the police, prompting the security personnel to retaliate, sources added.
