Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Robin Uthappa has made a surprising revelation, he was ready to leave the franchise immediately after helping them clinch the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) title. Despite winning the Orange Cap that season with 660 runs, Uthappa wanted to re-enter the auction to maximise his market value.

After Pune Warriors India was terminated from the IPL, Uthappa was bought by KKR for Rs 5 crore in the 2014 auction. Opening alongside skipper Gautam Gambhir, he enjoyed a dream run, averaging 44.00 and playing a pivotal role in KKR's second title triumph.
