Bhubaneswar, Jan. 14 -- The Odisha government has created a new police district at Rairangpur, further strengthening the state's policing infrastructure.

The Home Department has issued an official notification announcing the formation of the new police district.

The Rairangpur Police District has been formed by bifurcating the existing Mayurbhanj Police District, with its headquarters set up at Rairangpur. With the addition of the new district, the total number of police districts in Odisha has risen to 35.

Earlier, the state government had established two police districts each in Ganjam and Sundargarh districts as part of efforts to improve law enforcement and administrative efficiency. Rourkela and Berhampur were among the additional...
