Rainfall activity picked up pace in several districts of Odisha on Monday, with Paradip radar imagery indicating widespread showers over Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul and Keonjhar, triggered by the influence of a developing low-pressure system over the region, informed IMD scientist Umashankar Das.

According to the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar, the rainfall is a direct result of the low pressure over northwest Madhya Pradesh and an emerging system over the Bay of Bengal, both of which are now affecting Odisha's interior and northern belts.
