In a major crackdown against illegal tour operators in the holy town of Puri, police have launched a massive operation to curb the exploitation of pilgrims and tourists by unregistered travel agencies.
Authorities said that several travel agencies have been mushrooming across the city, luring visitors with promises of side trips to nearby tourist spots, only to overcharge and exploit them. Acting on growing complaints, Puri Police swung into action, conducting raids across different parts of the city.
