India, March 31 -- The government has decided to suspend the driving license of those who do not pay their traffic e-challan within three months. Furthermore, the license of those who have accumulated more than three e-challans (fine) for jumping red signal or dangerous driving, in a financial year, could be confiscated for at least three months, reports said.
On the other hand, the government is also reportedly preparing a strategy to link higher insurance premiums, if one has at least two pending challans from the previous financial year.
The measures come after government data reveals that barely 40% recover of e-challan amounts or fines for traffic rule violations are large-scale non-compliance.
