Bhubaneswar, Feb. 17 -- In an unsettling revelation, recent statistics have shown that a worrying number of women and children have gone missingin the state over the past four years. A total of 36,420 women alongside 8,403 children have gone missing during the period from 2020 to 2024 in the state, informed Odisha CM Mohan Majhi.

Replying to a question by MLA Chakramani Kanhar in Odisha Assembly on Monday, CM Mohan Majhi revealed the shocking numbers of missing women and children. The CMdisclosed that 421 women and girls have fallen victim to trafficking across state borders, facilitated by unscrupulous middlemen. In response, law enforcement agencies have detained 453 middlemen involved in these illegal activities.
