Bhubaneswar, Sept. 6 -- Amidst the Opposition outcry over the deteriorating law and order situation in the State, a whopping 11,000 posts are lying vacant in the Odisha Police. The shocking revelation was made by the Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra in the Odisha Assembly on Monday.

According to Mishra, 11,456 posts, out of the sanctioned 67,671 posts in the Odisha Police are lying vacant as on August 1, 2021. While replying to a written question of MLA Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Mishra informed that out of the total 20 sanctioned DIG posts, 13 are remaining vacant. Similarly, 15 posts of SP (Superintendent of Police), out of sanctioned 63 posts, are lying vacant at present.
