India, March 13 -- The recruitment of constables for India Reserve Battalion (IRB) was stayed on Thursday by Orissa High Court in Cuttack. The recruitment has come to a halt following allegations of preferential treatment related to age eligibility, official sources said.

Why some job-aspirants moved Orissa HC? Those applicants, who were previously considered 'over age', claimed they were unfairly excluded from consideration.

A prior directive from the High Court's Single Bench had ensured that these candidates would be provided an opportunity.

The examinations were conducted for these 'over age' candidates in compliance with High Court directions. However, the results of these exams are yet to be announced.
