Bhubaneswar, Dec. 13 -- At least four persons were injured, one of them critically, in a group clash that broke out at a village square in Odisha's Ganjam district on Friday evening, police said.

The incident occurred at the main square of Phashi village under the Kodala police station limits, briefly triggering tension in the area. According to preliminary information, more than eight persons from a neighbouring village allegedly arrived at Phashi and were involved in the clash, which is believed to have stemmed from an old rivalry.

Police sources said a group allegedly entered the village and attacked a father and his two sons with sharp weapons, following which the situation escalated into retaliatory attacks from both sides.
