Bhubaneswar, Dec. 23 -- Vehicle checking across Odisha will be intensified from January 1, with enforcement agencies directed to take strict action against motorists found violating motor vehicle and road safety norms.

Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur announced that the statewide drive would begin with the New Year and continue with heightened vigilance, particularly during National Road Safety Month in January.

Addressing road safety and pollution compliance, Thakur said enforcement teams, including Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs), have been instructed to strictly act against violations related to traffic rules, safety norms and mandatory documentation.
