India, March 21 -- A Junior Engineer (JE) from the Rural Development (RD) Division, Jajpur, was intercepted on Friday by Odisha Vigilance, while he was carrying over Rs 2.03 lakh suspected ill-gotten cash.

The accused, Bhimasen Maharana, JE of RD Division, Jaraka, Kuakhia Section in Jajpur, was stopped on National Highway-16 near Tangi Toll Gate, Cuttack, while en route to his native village in Bentapura Sasan of Khordha district, by his personal car (Registration No. OD-02 T-8814).

Acting on credible information regarding the collection of bribe money from contractors, the Vigilance team intercepted him leading to the recovery of Rs 2,03,940 in cash.
