Bhubaneswar, Jan. 22 -- OdishaVigilance on Thursday apprehended a Revenue Inspector of Kakhadi Circle under Sadar Tahasil inCuttack district while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for submitting a favourable report in a mutation case and for issuance of the Record of Rights (ROR or patta).

The accused has been identified as Janaki Ranjan Mallik, who was serving as Revenue Inspector (RI) at Kakhadi Circle.

According to Vigilance officials, the complainant, a land owner, had applied online for mutation of his land. Mallik had fixed the date of hearing of the mutation case for January 27, 2026, and asked the complainant to report to his office on January 20, 2026.
