Bhubaneswar, Jan. 30 -- The Odisha government has announced a three-day state mourning as a mark of respect for Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das who succumbed to gunshot wound on Sunday.

Das, who was the wealthiest Minister in Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Cabinet, was shot in the chest by an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in Jharsuguda and died hours later while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

As per a circular issued by the State Home Department,three-day state mourning will be observed from January 29 to January 31 in honour of Das and there will be no official entertainment during this period throughout the state.
