In a major development on Tuesday, Odisha Crime Branch's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) arrested Madhusmita Singh, the suspended tehsildar of Jamda in Mayurbhanj district. She was arrested on serious allegations of misappropriating Rs 4 crore government funds.
According to official sources, Singh was previously serving as the Executive Officer (EO) of Belpahar Municipality in Jharsuguda district, where the alleged financial irregularities had taken place. While holding that post, she was involved in several projects, including a streetlight installation scheme.
