Babilata Behera, former supply inspector of Kaniha Block in Anugul district and currently posted at the office of the Chief Supply Officer (CSO), Baripada in Mayurbhanj district, has been convicted in a bribery case and sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment.
According to an official release from Odisha Vigilance, Behera was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 43,000 from a sub-wholesaler of kerosene.
The bribe was sought in exchange for signing the utilisation certificate of kerosene distribution and issuing a release order in his favour.
